Welcome to Fox Valley Katahdins, located in Cantril, Iowa. Operated by Kenneth and Lorelle Zimmerman, our farm is dedicated to raising high-quality Katahdin sheep that thrive in a low-input, forage-based system. Located in the heart of Van Buren County, we focus on producing resilient genetics that perform on the pasture, not just in the barn.

Our management philosophy is simple: let the sheep be sheep. Our ewe flock runs on pasture year-round, and we utilize a pasture lambing system in April and May. We use minimal grain, ensuring that the sheep you buy from us have the natural ability to grow and thrive on a forage diet. We select for maternal excellence, parasite resistance, and easy-keeping traits.
Every year, we offer a select group of yearling rams bred for longevity and growth. Our rams are weaned onto grass and wintered on a balanced ration of grass hay, whole corn, soyhulls, and oats to ensure they are developed properly for the breeding season.
